Sorella Terra is the exhibition of National Geographic in Rome, at Palazzo Braschi until the 28th of February 2016.

The photo exhibition is inspired by the encyclical Laudato si’ by Pope Francis, focusing on the fact that the Earth is our common home, and inviting us to face our responsibilities toward the planet, and calls for change.

The editor chief of National Geographic Italia, Marina Conti, said:

When we at National Geographic Italia read the encyclical we immediately made the connection between the words, topics and issues addressed, and the Society’s “mission” – to inspire, illuminate and teach, to change the world. And, by extension, the reportages and photographs that the magazine has been publishing for 127 yaers on the changes in our planet, the demage wreaked by natural phenomena or humanity, increasingly marked social inequalities, and the consequences of, and responsabilities for, global warming. Envisioning what the Earth will be like in the future if we do not protect it, showing the precarious equilibrium of our planet, promoting full awareness and suggesting what steps must be taken to save it and ourselves.

Sorella Terra takes us on an imaginary journey through the words of the encyclical and images by our top photographers, depicting the fragility, suffering, and beauty of the world.

If you are in Rome, I highly recommend to go to se the exibition: the National Geographic photographers are always so good, giving a shape to the fragility of the planet through photographs of poverty, natural disasters and their consequences.
